New Nissan Rogue Hybrid in Puyallup, Washington
A hybrid you never plug in, driven only by electric motors, with dual-motor all-wheel drive standard. SR arrives in fall 2026 and the full range follows in early 2027.
The Engine Never Turns the Wheels
This is not a plug-in and it is not a conventional hybrid. In the 2027 Rogue Hybrid, a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder runs as a generator only. It charges the battery and feeds the motors, then shuts off entirely once the battery has enough charge. The wheels are always turned by electric motors.
What that gives you is the drive feel of an EV with the refuelling habits of a gas car. You get instant electric torque off the line at the SR-167 on-ramp, and you fill up at the station on Meridian like always. No home charger, no public charging stops, no range planning for a run over Snoqualmie Pass.
That distinction matters in the South Sound. Plenty of Pierce County households park in a driveway or a shared lot with no practical way to install a Level 2 charger. e-POWER gives them the quiet, immediate feel of electric drive without asking them to solve the charging problem first. If you want a plug-in or a full EV instead, our new inventory covers the rest of the Nissan range.
Six Things to Know Before It Lands
The Rogue Hybrid replaces the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid in the lineup. Here is what the e-POWER system actually changes about the drive.
225 Horsepower, All of It Electric
A 202-horsepower front motor and a 134-horsepower rear motor combine for 225 horsepower of system output. The front motor makes 243 lb-ft and the rear adds 144 lb-ft, both available from zero rpm.
Dual-Motor AWD as Standard
Every Rogue Hybrid grade gets electric all-wheel drive with a motor on each axle. There is no driveshaft between them, so torque moves front to rear electronically and quickly, which is what you want on a wet on-ramp.
40 City, 36 Highway, 38 Combined
Nissan's own estimate is 40 mpg city, 36 highway and 38 combined. Those are internal figures and the official EPA ratings are still pending. Note the city number is the higher one, which is the opposite of a gas car and the whole point of a series hybrid.
Stop-and-Go Is Where It Wins
A series hybrid is at its best in traffic, because the engine is free to run at its own best speed regardless of what your right foot is doing. The northbound SR-167 crawl is close to the ideal case for this drivetrain.
e-Pedal With Smooth Stop
Lift off the accelerator and regenerative braking slows the car, down to a stop. Nissan calls the refined stopping behaviour Smooth Stop and lists one-pedal driving as class-exclusive here. In heavy traffic your right foot stays on one pedal.
Room Is Not Sacrificed
Cargo runs 31.1 cubic feet behind the second row and 65.9 cubic feet with it folded, with seating for five. The battery does not cost you the back seat.
A 14.3-Inch Screen and Google Built In
A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard. SR grades can be optioned up to a 14.3-inch display with Google built in, and that larger screen is standard on Platinum. Google built in puts Maps, the Assistant and the Play Store into the dash without tethering to a phone.
Grades run SV AWD, SR AWD and Platinum AWD. All-wheel drive is standard on all three, so the decision you are making is about equipment level rather than drivetrain. SR with the SR Technology Package is the first one to arrive, in fall 2026.

Why a Series Hybrid Suits the South Sound
Two things about this market make e-POWER worth a look. The first is traffic. The daily grind on SR-167, SR-512 and I-5 through Fife is exactly the low-speed, high-variation driving where a series hybrid is most frugal, which is why the city estimate is higher than the highway one.
The second is charging. A lot of households in Puyallup, Tacoma and Federal Way rent, or park in a shared lot, or simply do not want to add a circuit to the garage. The Rogue Hybrid sidesteps that decision entirely. It fills at any pump, and the dual-motor all-wheel drive is standard rather than an upcharge.
If you do want to plug in, we also sell the Nissan LEAF, and our team can talk through the charger rebates offered by Puget Sound Energy and Tacoma Power. Those are two different utilities with two different programs, and which one applies depends on your address.
Traffic Is the Best Case
A series hybrid decouples engine speed from road speed, so the northbound SR-167 crawl stops being the worst-case scenario for fuel economy and becomes close to the best.
No Charger Required
No Level 2 install, no panel upgrade, no negotiating with a landlord. You refuel at the station on Meridian or River Road the same way you always have.
Standard AWD for the Wet Months
Both axles are driven by their own motor, with torque shifted electronically. From October through April on Pierce County roads that is a straightforward advantage.

What South Sound Drivers Say
2027 Rogue Hybrid e-POWER Questions
Do you have to plug in the 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid?
No. The Rogue Hybrid e-POWER never plugs in. Its 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder runs as a generator that charges the battery, and you refuel it with gasoline at any station.
This is the main practical difference from the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid it replaces, and it is why it suits drivers in Puyallup and Tacoma who cannot install a home charger.
How does Nissan e-POWER actually work?
The gas engine is never connected to the wheels. It runs only as a generator, charging the battery and feeding the electric motors, and it shuts off entirely when the battery has enough charge.
Electric motors drive the car at all times, which is why it feels like an EV from behind the wheel. A front motor makes 202 horsepower and a rear motor adds 134, for 225 horsepower combined.
What fuel economy does the 2027 Rogue Hybrid get?
Nissan estimates 40 mpg city, 36 highway and 38 combined. Those are Nissan's internal figures and the official EPA ratings have not been published yet.
The city figure being higher than the highway figure is normal for a series hybrid and is good news for anyone whose commute is mostly SR-167 and surface streets.
Does the 2027 Rogue Hybrid come with all-wheel drive?
Yes, on every grade. Dual-motor electric all-wheel drive is standard on SV, SR and Platinum, with a separate motor driving each axle.
There is no mechanical link between front and rear, so the system shifts torque electronically. For wet Pierce County roads between October and April that is a real advantage.
When does the 2027 Rogue Hybrid arrive at Bill Korum's Puyallup Nissan?
Nissan is launching the SR grade with the SR Technology Package in fall 2026. The full range of SV, SR and Platinum follows in early 2027.
Call us at (253) 848-4507 and we will tell you when the first cars reach Puyallup and what grades are allocated to us.
What is e-Pedal with Smooth Stop?
e-Pedal lets you drive using mainly the accelerator. Lift off and regenerative braking slows the car, all the way down to a stop, recovering energy as it does.
Smooth Stop is Nissan's refinement of how the car comes to rest, so the stop is gentle rather than abrupt. In stop-and-go traffic on SR-512 it means far less pedal switching.
Is the Rogue Hybrid replacing the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid?
Yes. For 2027 the Rogue Hybrid e-POWER takes the place of the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid in Nissan's US lineup.
The trade is simple. You give up the ability to drive on grid electricity, and you gain standard dual-motor all-wheel drive and a car that never needs a charger.
