The 2027 Nissan Rogue carries the same 1.5-liter VC-Turbo as before, rated at 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. What Nissan changed is the calibration. The Xtronic CVT has new tuning for smoother, more linear acceleration and crisper throttle response, which is the part you notice merging onto SR-512 or crawling north on I-5 through Fife.
The grade lineup runs S, SV, Dark Armor, Rock Creek and Platinum. Rock Creek is the one that matters most in Pierce County. It comes with Falken all-terrain tires, Hill Descent Control, a tubular roof rack and an HD Around View Monitor with an off-road view, which is a genuinely useful set of hardware for forest roads off SR-410 rather than a styling package.
Dark Armor goes the other direction with gloss black mirrors, badges, pillar trim and grille bars on 19-inch gloss black wheels. Most Rogues sold here spend Monday through Friday on the same stretch of road. North on SR-167 toward Renton, west on SR-512 to I-5, or the surface-street crawl along Meridian through South Hill. That is where the retuned CVT and the 33 mpg highway rating do their work.
The weekend is where the grade choice shows up. A Rock Creek with all-terrain tires and Hill Descent Control is a different proposition on a Forest Service road off SR-410 than a front-drive S on all-seasons. If you are driving to Crystal Mountain in February or up to the Sunrise side of Mount Rainier in August, pick the drivetrain for the trip you actually take.
