What Changed for 2027
A Blacked-Out SR and a Smoother CVT
Three changes define the 2027 Sentra. There is a new Midnight Edition package for the SR grade with black 18-inch wheels and a two-tone roof. The Xtronic CVT gets new tuning for smoother, more responsive acceleration. And a Qi2 wireless device charger is available, which charges a modern phone faster and holds it more securely than the older pad.
Under the hood it is the familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder, rated at 149 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 146 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm. Grades run S, SV, SR and SL.

A Quieter Way Through Traffic
The CVT retune is the change you feel rather than read. Nissan targeted smoother, more responsive acceleration, which in practice means fewer moments where the engine flares ahead of the car. On a slow crawl north through Sumner that is the difference between a relaxed drive and a tiring one.
Intelligent Cruise Control comes standard, which takes the worst of the stop-and-go off your right foot on I-5 between Fife and Federal Way. Pair it with the 12.3-inch screen and wireless phone mirroring and the Sentra cabin is a comfortable place to spend an hour.

A Commuter Car for a Commuter Corridor
The drive from Puyallup to Seattle is roughly 35 miles each way, and thousands of people here do some version of it. At 38 mpg highway, a Sentra covers that round trip on a good deal less fuel than the SUV parked next to it, and the Intelligent Cruise Control takes the edge off the SR-167 queue.
Sedans do give something up here. Ground clearance is lower than an SUV, which matters on an unplowed morning in Graham or Orting. If that is your road, look at the Kicks or the Rogue with all-wheel drive instead. For flat commuting on paved roads the Sentra is the cheaper answer.
