Which Nissan Kicks Trims Have a Sunroof?

On the current Nissan Kicks, the SV and the SR can be ordered with a panoramic moonroof. On both it is optional equipment inside that trim's Premium Package, never standard. The base S and the off-road-styled Rock Creek cannot be ordered with one at all.

Sunroof Availability by Trim

The important column is the middle one. On the Kicks a sunroof is never standard equipment, so the question is not which trim has one, it is which trim can be ordered with one.

Looking at a 2026 Kicks instead? The rule is the same: the panoramic moonroof was optional and came bundled inside a Premium Package, never standard on any trim. The trim structure and the package split moved when the 2027 arrived, so a 2026 car will not necessarily match the table above trim for trim.

We are not going to guess at which 2026 combination is in front of you. Read the window sticker for the Premium Package, or give us the stock number and we will read the build sheet back to you.

Panoramic Moonroof, Not Just a Sunroof

Most people use sunroof and moonroof interchangeably, and that is fine. The distinction that actually matters on the Kicks is the word panoramic: the glass runs back over the rear seats rather than stopping above the front ones. Rear passengers get the sky too.

That is a bigger deal in a subcompact crossover than in a large SUV. The Kicks is a small car with a high roofline, and a panel of glass running the length of the cabin changes how big it feels from the back seat more than any dimension on the spec sheet does.

Is It Worth It in the South Sound?

If you pictured an open roof on the run out to Chinook Pass, be honest with yourself about how many days a year the weather here allows that. It is not many.

The argument that actually holds up is light, not air. A grey November afternoon in Puyallup feels considerably less closed-in under a panoramic roof, and that benefit shows up every single day rather than a dozen times each summer. Pacific Northwest buyers who order the glass almost never do it for the sunshine.

How to Tell Whether the Car in Front of You Has One

Because the roof is an option rather than trim equipment, two cars wearing the same SR badge on the same lot can differ. Do not shop this one by trim name.

  1. Look up. Obvious, and still the fastest check. From outside, a panoramic roof is usually visible as a dark glass panel running most of the length of the roof.
  2. Read the window sticker for the Premium Package. That is the line item that carries the moonroof. If the package is not listed, the car does not have the glass and no dealer can add it at the factory now.
  3. Ask what else is in the package. The contents move by trim and by model year. On the SR the package has historically bundled the moonroof with a Bose audio system and a heated steering wheel, among other items, which changes the value of the box you are ticking.
  4. Sit in it if you are tall. The glass and its mechanism occupy space the headliner would otherwise give back to you. It is a small amount, and it matters to some people and not at all to others. Five minutes in the driver's seat settles it.

Shopping from Tacoma, Auburn or Kent and do not want to make the drive twice? Call (253) 848-4507 with a stock number and we will read the build sheet back to you before you get in the car. Check current Kicks inventory first, or look at the used Kicks listings if a previous model year suits you better.

If You Cannot Get the Glass, What Else Is There?

Every Kicks, moonroof or not, comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard. Ground clearance is 8.4 inches across the range.

If the panoramic roof is genuinely the thing you want and the Kicks combination you like does not offer it, the Rogue and the Murano are the next two crossovers to look at. Both are larger cars, and both are worth driving before you settle.

Common Questions

Which Nissan Kicks trims have a sunroof?

On the current Kicks, the SV and the SR can be ordered with a panoramic moonroof, and on both of them it is optional equipment inside that trim's Premium Package rather than standard. The base S cannot be ordered with one, and neither can the off-road-styled Rock Creek. No Kicks trim has a sunroof as standard equipment.

Is the Kicks sunroof standard on any trim?

No. On every trim that offers one it is an option, and it only comes bundled inside a Premium Package with other equipment. You cannot order the glass on its own. That is why two cars wearing the same trim badge on the same lot can differ on this.

What is the difference between a sunroof and a panoramic moonroof?

In everyday use people say sunroof for both. Strictly, a moonroof is a glass panel and a sunroof was originally a solid body-coloured one. Panoramic means the glass runs back over the rear seats instead of stopping above the front ones. What the Kicks offers is a panoramic moonroof, so the rear passengers get the view as well.

Can a sunroof be added to a Kicks after I buy it?

Not as a factory option. Once a car is built without one, adding glass means an aftermarket installation that cuts the roof, and that is a different thing entirely from the factory panel with its own drains and seals. If you want the moonroof, buy a car that already has it.

Is a panoramic moonroof worth it in the Pacific Northwest?

It depends what you use it for. If you were picturing an open roof on the drive out to Chinook Pass, the honest answer is that the South Sound gives you a limited number of days a year for that. What the glass does earn its keep on is light. A grey November afternoon in Puyallup feels noticeably less closed-in in a car with a panoramic roof, and that benefit arrives every single day rather than a dozen times a summer.

Does the moonroof cost headroom or cargo space?

Headroom, a little, because the glass and its mechanism sit where the headliner otherwise would. It is worth sitting in one before you commit if you are tall. Cargo space is unaffected by the roof. What does change cargo volume on the Kicks is drivetrain, since the all-wheel-drive models give up room behind the rear seats to the rear suspension.

How do I tell whether a specific Kicks on the lot has one?

Look up, then check the window sticker for the Premium Package. Do not rely on the trim badge, because the package is optional on the trims that offer it. If you are shopping remotely, give us the stock number or the VIN over the phone and we will read the build sheet back to you rather than guessing.

What else comes with the package that includes the moonroof?

It varies by trim and by model year, which is exactly why the glass cannot be ordered alone. The SR version of the package has historically bundled the moonroof with a Bose audio system and a heated steering wheel among other items. Because the contents move year to year, ask for the package contents on the specific car rather than trusting a general answer, including this one.
