Trucks Under $30,000 in Puyallup, WA
What $30,000 Buys in a Truck Around Puyallup
Thirty thousand dollars is the line where a truck search stops being about new and starts being about value. New Frontier pricing sits above it, so the trucks under $30,000 at Bill Korum's Puyallup Nissan are pre-owned: late-model Frontiers, the occasional Titan, and the F-150s, Rangers and Tacomas that come in on trade. The listing above this text is live and changes weekly.
The budget covers more than people expect. In the South Sound it buys a midsize truck that will tow a boat to Lake Tapps, a full-size truck with a V8 for the gravel off SR-410, or a work truck for the trades along River Road and the Port of Tacoma. The question is which of those you actually need, and that is what this page is for.
Two rules we hold to on every truck here. We never quote a price we cannot show you on the window sticker, and we never sell a Nissan as Certified Pre-Owned until it has passed the 167-point inspection. Everything else is negotiable, including the trade-in that gets you under the number.
Midsize, Full-Size or Work Truck
Most buyers in this range are choosing between three kinds of truck, and the right answer depends on what you tow and where you park.
The Midsize Pick: Used Nissan Frontier
The most common truck under $30,000 on our lot, and the easiest to recommend. A 2020 or 2021 Frontier carries the current 310-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic in the older, narrower body. A 2018 or 2019 uses the simpler 4.0-liter V6. Both park on a Puyallup side street without a fight.
- Tows a bass boat, a utility trailer or a pair of sleds with margin
- PRO-4X versions bring real four-wheel-drive hardware for Crystal Mountain weekends
- Read our Best Year for a Used Nissan Frontier guide before you shop
The Full-Size Pick: Titan, F-150 or Silverado
Under $30,000, full-size means a few more years or a few more miles than the midsize option. The Nissan Titan is worth a look here: 400 horsepower from a 5.6-liter V8, built through the 2024 model year, and priced in the used market like a truck people forgot about. Trade-in F-150s and Silverados show up regularly too.
- The right choice if you tow a travel trailer or a loaded car hauler
- Expect higher fuel and tire costs than a midsize, every month
- Check the hitch, the brake controller wiring and the transmission service history
The Work Truck
For a contractor working between Sumner, Fife and South Hill, the cheapest truck is the one that starts every morning and fits the job site. A 4x2 King Cab or Crew Cab Frontier with a long bed and a clean service record is often the smartest use of this budget.
- Bed length matters more than trim level for sheet goods and ladders
- A spray-in liner and a tonneau add real value on a used truck
- Ask us about commercial financing if the truck is going on a business
What to Check on a Used Truck
Trucks get worked harder than cars, and the price range under $30,000 is where that history matters most. Here is what we look at on every pre-owned truck before it goes on the lot, and what you should ask about on any truck anywhere.
- Towing history. A hitch with worn paint, a trailer brake controller and a transmission cooler all tell you the truck pulled weight. That is fine if the fluids were serviced on schedule.
- Four-wheel-drive engagement. Shift it into 4H and 4L in the parking lot. It should engage without hesitation or noise. A system that is never used can be as much of a problem as one that is overused.
- Tires and alignment. Uneven wear on a truck usually means a lifted or overloaded past. Four matching tires with even tread is a good sign.
- Bed and frame. Look for dents, gouges and a bed that has carried gravel without a liner. Our wet winters are kinder to frames than road salt, but check anyway.
- Vehicle history report. We provide it on every pre-owned vehicle. Read the ownership count and the accident section, not just the summary.
- Service records. Oil changes on time and a timing-chain engine like the Frontier's V6 make high mileage far less scary. Records beat odometer readings.
Every Nissan we sell as Certified Pre-Owned has passed a 167-point inspection first. Trucks from other brands are sold as regular pre-owned vehicles with the same history report, so ask which is which. Our service department is on the same lot if you want a second set of eyes on anything.
The Right Truck for Where You Drive It
The Valley Floor
If the truck lives on I-5, SR-167 and SR-512, a 4x2 saves money three ways: purchase price, fuel and tires. Put the savings into a newer truck or lower miles.
The Plateau and the Pass
Bonney Lake, Graham and the road up SR-410 toward Crystal Mountain argue for 4x4. So does any boat ramp on Lake Tapps in April. Buy the four-wheel drive and good tires.
The Job Site
Trades between the Port of Tacoma, River Road and the construction across South Hill and Sumner want bed length and payload first, cab size second, and trim level last.

What South Sound Drivers Say
Trucks Under $30,000 Questions
Can I find a truck under $30,000 at Bill Korum's Puyallup Nissan?
Usually, yes, and the listing above this text is the live answer. Our used truck inventory turns over weekly and typically mixes Nissan Frontiers and Titans with trade-ins from other brands. If nothing above fits today, call (253) 848-4507 and tell us the cab, bed and drivetrain you want. Trucks in this price range often sell within days of arriving, so being on our list matters.
Is a used Nissan Frontier a good truck for under $30,000?
It is one of the best fits for the budget. A 2020 or 2021 Frontier has the current 310-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic in the older, narrower body, which makes it easy to park in downtown Puyallup and still able to tow a boat to Lake Tapps. A 2018 or 2019 Frontier with the 4.0-liter V6 is simpler and usually cheaper. Our Best Year for a Used Nissan Frontier page walks through every model year.
Should I buy 4x4 or 4x2 in the South Sound?
If you live on the Bonney Lake plateau, drive SR-410 toward Crystal Mountain in winter, or launch a boat on a wet ramp, buy the 4x4. If your truck lives on I-5, SR-167 and the valley floor, a 4x2 saves money on the purchase, on fuel and on tires, and the money saved can go toward a newer truck or lower miles. Rear-wheel-drive trucks are light in the back, so plan on good tires either way.
Are there any new trucks under $30,000?
Not from Nissan. New Frontier pricing starts above this budget, so a $30,000 truck search is mostly a pre-owned search. That is not a bad thing. A late-model used Frontier or a well-kept full-size truck from another brand gives you more truck for the money than any new model at this price. Check the listing above for what is on the lot now.
What does Nissan Certified Pre-Owned mean at Bill Korum's?
A Nissan Certified Pre-Owned truck has passed a 167-point inspection before it goes on the lot, and it comes with Nissan's certified pre-owned coverage. Not every used truck under $30,000 will be a certified Nissan, since trade-ins from other brands are sold as regular pre-owned vehicles. Ask which trucks on the lot are certified and we will show you the inspection report.
Can I finance a used truck here?
Yes. Our finance team works with a range of lenders on pre-owned vehicles, and you can start an application online before you visit. Bring your trade-in too, since a trade can close the gap between the truck you want and the budget you set. We are at 101 Valley Ave NW in Puyallup, minutes off SR-167.
