Intelligent AWD sends power to the front wheels most of the time. That keeps fuel economy close to the front-wheel-drive Rogue, a 1 mpg combined difference at most.
The system reads wheel speed, throttle input, and steering angle every moment you drive. When it detects the front tires starting to slip, it shifts torque to the rear wheels before you would notice it from the driver's seat.
That matters on wet pavement, not just snow. Standing water on SR 167 or a slick stretch of I-5 near the Port of Tacoma can catch a front-wheel-drive car off guard just as easily as an icy pass.

Rock Creek Pairs AWD with Real Off-Road Hardware
Rock Creek is the only Rogue trim built around AWD from the ground up. It comes standard, paired with all-terrain tires instead of the street tires on other trims.
Off-Road mode adjusts throttle response and traction control for loose or uneven surfaces. Hill Descent Control manages brake pressure automatically on steep grades, useful coming down from Crystal Mountain or an unpaved pullout near Mount Rainier.
